Ear Wax Removal
At Help in Hearing we can remove ear wax using microsuction, irrigation (water) or if appropriate, “dry removal” using a small probe. Which method we use will depend on your specific history and appropriate to the condition of the ear, which we will ascertain whilst you are attending your Ear Care Appointment. If you suffer from excessive ear wax problems or suspect that you may need to have your ears cleared of wax give Help in Hearing a call or email through our appointment request page to arrange an “Ear Care” appointment.
What is ear wax microsuction?
Ear wax microsuction is a procedure which uses gentle suction to remove excessive or troublesome ear wax. It is performed with the aid of a surgical microscope and a calibrated suction device, without the introduction of any materials or liquids. Ear wax microsuction is one of the safest, most effective, quickest and most comfortable methods of removing ear wax. Usually micro suction does not need pre-treatment with drops or oil. One of our audiologists will examine your ear using a microscope (either fixed or with loupes glasses) and, using a fine low pressure suction device, safely remove the blockage. Also, using a video otoscope we will show you the condition of the ear before and after the treatment. Ear Wax Microsuction is:
- SAFE – Microsuction is the preferred method of treatment for medical staff and patients alike for guaranteed effective removal of ear wax.
- PAIN FREE – Microsuction is totally comfortable and in most cases the blockage is removed in minutes.
- MANAGED BY QUALIFIED AUDIOLOGISTS – Only our carefully selected fully qualified and experienced audiologists with additional training in aural microsuction ear wax removal will carry out ear wax microsuction.
